Another Woman Alleges Roy Moore Sexually Assaulted Her
Another woman has come forward accusing Roy Moore of sexually abusing her as a teenager.
BuzzFeed News broadcast a live conference on Monday featuring Beverly Young-Nelson, an Alabaman woman who says that Moore sexually abused her, choking her in his car during an encounter in the late 1970s, when he was a county DA.
Young-Nelson explained in graphic detail how Moore had picked her up from a restaurant she had worked at, and tried to force her to perform a sexual act. As a teenager, Young-Nelson worked at the Old Hickory House near Gadsden, Alabama, where Moore frequently ate.
Moore would frequently flirt with Young-Nelson. One evening, when she was waiting for a ride from her boyfriend, Moore offered to drive her home instead. She was 16 at the time.
“I thought he would get on the highway, but instead he drove to the back of the restaurant,” she said. “He stopped the car and parked… The area was dark and deserted. I was alarmed and immediately asked him what he was doing.”
That’s when the abuse allegedly happened, Young-Nelson says.
“Mr. Moore reached over and began groping me,” she said. Moore grabbed her neck and tried to force her to perform oral sex, she alleged. “He locked [the door] so I could not get out. I thought he was going to rape me,” she added.
After she struggled against him, Moore finally gave up, Young-Nelson said. He then threatened her not to tell anyone. “‘You’re just a child and I am the District Attorney of Etowah County, and if you tell anyone about this, no one will ever believe you,'” Young-Nelson alleged Moore said to her.
Young-Nelson also added that her coming out now with her story was due to the bravery of others who did so last week. She also said this wasn’t a political hit — she herself had supported Republican Donald Trump in the presidential race last year. “This has nothing to do whatsoever with Republicans or Democrats,” she said.

It’s unclear how Republicans will react to this latest allegation. Some conservatives have tried to defend Moore, while others in Congress have suggested steps to remove him from the ballot, delay the election, or simply unseat him if he wins the special election against Doug Jones next month.
The better option overall, it seems, would be to support an upstanding candidate like Jones, who took on the KKK in the state, rather than Moore.
